Phuket is an island paradise in southern Thailand only a short distance from Asian capital cities: Bangkok (1 hour), Singapore (1.5 hours) and Hong Kong (3.5 hours). Phuket is renowned for its miles of sandy white beaches, the azure waters of the Andaman Sea and warm Thai hospitality. For more information on Phuket and Thailand please contact your local Tourism Authority of Thailand office or visit www.tourismthailand.org.
Located approximately 862 kilometres south of Bangkok, Phuket is Thailand’s largest island, which is often dubbed as “the pearl of the Andaman Sea”, or “the pearl of the south”. Its natural resources – rocky peninsulas, limestone cliffs, white powdery beaches, tranquil broad bays and tropical in-land forests contribute to making it the South’s wealthiest, busiest, most visited and most popular island and province.
Phuket has a lot more to offer its visitors other than its natural heritage, sea, sand, sky, beach, forest, and world-renowned diving sites. Sino-Portuguese architecture casts its spell delighting travellers to the city, while Phuket-style hospitality has never failed to impress visitors from all walks of life. For seafood lovers, there is much more to sample than just Phuket’s famous lobster. Altogether, these characteristics have made Phuket a truly unique destination.
Similar conditions to Hawaii, tropical climate with temperatures in the low 30s (Celsius) or high 80s (Fahrenheit) and extremely high humidity.
There are only two seasons in a year – the wet season (May to October) and the hot season (November to April). The best period for a visit, is from November to February, when the sky and sea are both crystal clear. Average temperatures ranges between +23°C and +33°C.
The Laguna Phuket Triathlon is held at Laguna Phuket, Asia’s finest destination resort, a holiday paradise with a collection of deluxe hotels linked by sparkling lagoons and tree-lined avenues, so you can easily enjoy everything that the resort has to offer. Launched in 1987 as the first integrated resort in Asia, Laguna Phuket occupies 1,000 acres of landscaped tropical grounds. Incorporating several picturesque lagoons and fronting the 8km-long white sand beach of Bangtao Bay, it is located just a short 25-minute drive from the Phuket International Airport and 30 minutes from Patong Beach and Phuket Town.
Built on an abandoned tin mine, once considered too polluted to develop, Laguna has become recognised and admired as one of the region’s leading resorts and most successful environmental projects. Today it offers a choice of over 30 restaurants and bars, plus access to a wide spectrum of sports and recreational facilities throughout the resort, including an 18-hole golf course, five luxury spas and a boutique shopping village.
We have additional offers from facilities within Laguna Phuket for the athletes this year.
